🖤 You

Well hello everyone, and welcome to May!!
Today I’m sharing a 12x12 with you that is very colourful and a little grungy.
I started with a Paper Arts for my base sheet, this one is Psycadelic 2.

I really wanted the paper elements and embellishments to stand out so I swiped some Jo Sonja black texture paste on the base.
Then proceeded to add colours that were already in the base sheet but would ‘pop’ more.
So I chose Dina Wakley acrylic paints in turquoise and sky.

Then I created tags out of a few sheets from the Heidi Swapp 8x6 pad, And a resist tag to create my layers under my photo. I used a handful of the Tim Holtz rub ons along with some stamps prior to adding the tags.

Under my photo I tucked a frame that I had added a couple of the rub ons onto, and then came the embellishments.
Firstly the Heidi Swapp arrows and the complimentary flairs.
These arrows are so easy to work with and add a nice quick easy way to embellish. Then I added a few enemal stars from Studio calico.

Finally I flicked liquitex titanium white ink around and outlined my tags with liquid paper.
This page was complete.
Quick and simple.
I hope you can play along this month and I look forward to seeing you all very soon.
Until then, Em xx

Inspired art journal

Howdy SC family!
Great to be here today with an Journal page I have created.
This piece of ‘art’ was heavily inspired by so many who are journaling at the moment.
And my awesome friend and fellow scrapper Tammy
If it wasn’t for these creative souls I probably wouldn’t push myself into this art form.

I used lots of acrylics, mostly Dylusions and Dina Wakley in an assortment of colours.
And you can see my process (and hear my voice 😮) in a little video linked at the end of my blog.

Something that I do love is the texture that can be created.
To add to that texture I used Scribble sticks around some of my images to make them more defined.

For my ‘face’ I used a Kinder Kreations eyes stencil
They work instantly and perfectly!
I really loved how they turned out.

The flowers in her hair were made firstly by stamping a darkroom door stamp.
But the colour was used by more Dylusion paints.

I had never thought of using liquid paper pen until I saw Lisa using one and I thought that was such a brilliant idea. It’s sometimes hard to get a white texta or pen that will work on paint. And I’m totally in love with the concept.

I also love that I can ‘play’ on my pages, squiggles, doodles, paint, stamp, splats, anything goes!
Ahh it’s so liberating!!

Have you tried this form of art yet?
I totally recommend it!
I’m going to keep an eye out for your creations!

I’ll catch you all very soon.

Em. Xx

Love

Hi everyone, and welcome to a mid month reveal. This one is for DT Off the rails Scrapbooking
This months mood board was all about Colour Bombing.
I was inspired by a number of colours and more so the lips.

I had so much fun with acrylic paints for my background.
It was fun playing with multi colours as I usually only play with 1 or 2 at a time.
I definitely will do more pops of colour.
I hope you get the chance to play this month, it really is an inspiring one.
Catch you all next month.

Opportunity to Shine

Well hello there,
Nice to see you all again.
Today I’m sharing a layout with oh so many flowers!
Well for me this feels like oh so many flowers cos I don’t usually use this many nor do I fussy cut!  hehe!
But I love it!

I have loved the quirky feel of this photo I found on Pinterest ages ago, and have been saving for just the right time. And when I received all these pretty Heidi Swapp flowers in my DT pack I knew it was time.

I also fussy cut flowers from a sheet in the Heidi Swapp 6x8 pad.
But before I did all that I chose my base sheet by Paper Arts and used the mixed media fun 3 sheet.
It’s so artsy!

I spread some gesso under where my design was going to be and then added Dylusions paint in pomegranate seed to add more colour. Plus it matched the colour in the base paper.
Then I flicked some liquitex titanium white ink around as well as doodling with a liquid paper pen.
The gorgeous resist flowers I rubbed Distress oxides over them and then rubbed back using a baby wipe to reveal the outline from the resist. I chose Wild honey, abandoned coral and iced spruce to colour these. Then I found some leaves in the pack and coloured them in peeled paint.

I painted my chippy in the Art Alchemy acrylic paints using yellow-blue and the other in aqua-rose.
But before I put them on I inked them with complimentary inks.
And then I just layered.
For a few of my embellishments I used Heidi Swapp glass button and some Teresa Collins daily stories sequins.
A couple of quotes and this pretty little thing was complete.

I really enjoyed playing with flowers. I think it’s something I might try more of.....

I created a little video of this layout coming together I’d love you to check out too.

Till next we meet, Em. Xxx
