Forever - Scrap layout with Emma.

Morning ScrappingClearly friends.
Today I have created a page inspired by this months sketch challenge.
And this time i think I kept it very similar to the sketch 😜

I used a lot from the MME Ontrend 2 collection to create this page.
But I started my page with gesso and texture paste, and then added a few subtle colours because the base paper I chose was rather bold.
These colours were made using Distress oxide antique linen  and Distress oxide iced spruce .
I also used a little bit of colour shine in gold, because I had chosen a few gold elements.

I cut a few tags out of the Ontrend 2 3x4 journal cards, that would compliment the layout.

I used a Heidi Swapp decorative tag and to embellish it used a few things in my stash and
I also used some Ontrend 2 stickers in and around my layout.

I finished off with liquitex artist ink in black and white flicked around.
I love finishing all my creations with this technique because I feel it unites every aspect.

It’s always crazy at this time of year, but hopefully you will get a chance to play with our challenges.

And don’t forget to enter in the amazing comp that Kylie has running right now, with a very cool prize up for grabs.

Until next time, happy scrapping.

Art journal with Emma.

Hi everyone.
Today I’m sharing another page in my art journal. I get so nervous creating in my journal and I really need to just let me be me in it. I tend to compare my work to everyone else’s, this includes all my creations not just the journal.
But we are all unique, we like different things, we see different perspectives, and we create differently and that’s what makes our art so awesome!
So I pulled out my stamps and inks (because these are my fave items at the moment) and just went for it.

It’s not at all perfect, but I had fun creating it.
I wanted it to reflect positivity as I’m lacking that about myself at the moment.
So I started with my main stamp, my girl, she is so gorgeous and I really haven’t water painted much b4 and thought I’d also try a ‘Style’ of this medium with my oxide inks.
So after stamping around my page, with a few flowers, and quotes, I chose my ink colours.

Choosing a few ‘feminine’ colours started painting the flowers with a water brush pen. Darkening and lightening where I needed.
Once this process was complete, I dried it and then quickly spritzed it with gold and again heat dried it quick before the oxide inks reactivated.

I then grabbed a couple of stencils and again using the oxide inks and a dauber rubber the ink through in a random fashion. I loved doing this it reminded me of art class 😜

I love the way the gold sat on top of everything. In the photos you can’t quite tell how much shimmer it has, but it really shines on the black lines of the stamps.

I then finished with a few flicks of ink and my page was done. I stepped back and felt happy with the play I had, and really want to enjoy that creative time instead of overthinking it.
I hope this can encourage you to try something that you might overthink??

Story of today

Hi ScrappingClearly fans,
Hope this crazy month will allow some crafty fun for you all.
Today I decided to use up some letters that I’ve had.
And I’ve used them on my background instead of a stencil and texture paste.

I did start with a gold texture paste though just painted on my On Trend2 paper like I would usually use gesso,  and then applying Distress oxide antique linen and faded jeans on it.
Stamping and then using my photo as a guide, created a background for my photo to nestle into.

I then used behind my photo a few scrap pieces left over from the Pink Paislee-cedar Lane  range and ontrend2 range.

Tucked in a couple of Heidi Swapp paper clips to help build layers. And cut out a pineapple from one of the Ontrend2 journal cards. In my layers I also used my last Heidi swap muslin tag. I’ve loved using these.

I also used a few Heidi swapp gold puffy stickers around.

Finally my last little final touch is the liquitex ink in black and white

This was a quick layout and a great way to use up odds and ends from your collections. I hope you have a great few days and will catch you on Thursday.
Till then, Em xx
